First time mom here, just wondering what I should pack in my hospital bag. Other than pijamas and some personal hygiene items. Should I buy adult diapers? If so any recommendations? I’m on the Xl size range with this pregnancy. Do I buy regular overnight sanitary pads? Not sure how much we bleed or for how long. Any advice/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

the hospital should provide you with all the pads you'll need during your stay. What they provide are large pads with mesh underwear. I've always bought pads for at home use, but this is my 4th baby and after reading about other moms using adult diapers, that's what I am going to try for at home this time around! I just bought 1 pack to try them out and then I am going to buy a pack of pads as well to have on hand. You'll bleed quite a bit! overall it lasts anywhere from 4-8 weeks but usually tapers off after the first 10 days or so

I used adult diapers after I ran out of the hospital provided pads. I think I bled for a month. I had mobility issues after my son was born and found the diaper easier.

@LindseyCabral,
this is the only right answer in my eyes my husband laughed at me at first but theyre so comfy and i wasn’t nearly as worried about any leakage! Felt wayyyy more secure lol

I tried adult diapers with my first and it was not for me. I found them uncomfortable and kind of gross. I have a really heavy period and have been on and off birth control since I was 14 to manage it, in my early twenties I even needed two units of blood after one particularly bad period.
I found postpartum bleeding to be manageable with pads and not nearly as bad as a typical period for me, especially after the first 48 hours.

Adult diapers were way better in my opinion— but the hospital will provide enormous pads and mesh underpants while you’re there!

I used adult diapers for my second delivery and it was the best decision

Depends fresh protection - I sized up for more comfort! And then extra long overnight cotton pads w/ wings. With my first I only did maybe 5 days in diapers and then switched to pads.

Agree with the diapers! Way easier than trying to finagle the hospital set up. I think I needed them at home for 3-4 weeks with my first?
I also bought cooling pads (Frida mom) and Tucks for the first couple weeks and it was worth the price for the instant relief.

The hospital provides you with thick thick pads, mesh underwear and ice pack pads. I use the ice pack ones with the mesh underwear in the hospital because the cold feels so good but at home I like the adult diapers. Much more comfy than a giant pad
